My reasons for wanting to become a Krav Maga instructor and teach others this simple but effective self defence system are based around personal experiences during my career with the ambulance service. I have had first hand experience of threatening and sometimes violent behaviour towards myself and my colleagues and because of this I can fully understand the levels of stress and fear that these types of incidents can cause. It was for these reasons I wanted to find a self defencesystem that truly worked, a self defence system that had a proven track record and a system that was simple to learn and easy to retain and use when you needed it most.
I have been a pupil and teacher in martial arts for many years, gaining a Black Belt in Wado-Ryu karate and a Brown Belt in Shotokan Karate and (in my younger years!) competing at a high level on a regular basis. Although I enjoyed these systems, the self defence aspects were based around structured attacks combined with a set response – these types of attacks do not happen on the street!
Krav Maga is different. To start with it is used worldwide by Military and Law Enforcement Units. It is easy to learn – no kata’s, no rules and no complicated moves to remember, just simple, effective and devastating techniques! In fact, it is the only system that gives you tools you can easily use after your very first lesson. This is why I enrolled myself on the British Krav Maga Association Instructor course, so that I could deliver this truly unique, battle tested and proven self defence system to other people. So, why don’t you sign up for your free lesson and come along to see just how effective Krav Maga is.
We don’t expect you to turn up twice a week to get beaten up, to learn how not to get beaten up! Reason; If you are concerned about learning to defend yourself should the worst happen, what is the point of ‘training’ you to get slapped around the head.
Yes, Krav Maga training involves contact, it makes no sense to train in a self defence system and not experience a ‘physical assault/confrontation’ but this is a gradual, professional process – it will start to happen without you realising it, introduced slowly and at a pace that you are comfortable with.
Beginners are always welcome at Krav Maga Bournemouth. Our classes are professional and relaxed, always hard. . . but that is the BKMA way!
